Nuggets of Truth

This quote resonates with me, deep down in my soul. It is what we do with our little moments that determines if we are living with power and purpose. Everything we need is already within us. Living with purpose defies race and gender. It defies social class and culture. It defies age and work sector. Every person possesses the incredible power to live with purpose every single day. If you are breathing right now, you have power. You can do things today that empowers others, loves the vulnerable, gives glory to God, and has Kingdom impact.

As we embark on our journey to live with power and purpose, we need to set some ground rules. Now, I’m not talking about eyes on the board, hands to yourself types of rules. I am talking about rules we need to believe about ourselves. Absolute truths we need to know, feel, and cling to as we run forward. As children, we may have thought of rules as things that ruined all of the fun. But as we matured, we realized that rules are for our own good and the common good of others. Rules must be followed to achieve the overall effectiveness of whatever it is we are doing. And so, even this journey is going to have a few ground rules.

Here are some nuggets of truth I want you to know.

You are worthy.

Do you believe that? You are worthy of power. You are worthy of purpose. You are worthy to make your mark and leave an impact on this world. You are worthy to love and be loved. You were fearfully and wonderfully made by the same Heavenly Father that created every powerful person who has lived before you. The same God who created Esther, created you. The same God who created James and Matthew and Peter and Paul, created you. The same God who created Mother Teresa, created you. And not only did He create you, but He values you above every other creation. He values you above the beautiful flowers and the singing birds. He knows the number of hairs on your head, and the innermost parts of your soul. And He says you are His worthy child.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. -Psalm 139:14
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. -Matthew 10:29-31

You are chosen.

God chose you. You are not worthy by default. You were selected and chosen with great pride and intention. You are His. You were chosen by the Lord God Almighty who was, and is, and is to come! Do you feel your power in that? I can barely finish the sentence without shouting!

Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love. -Ephesians 1:4
Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. -Psalm 100:3

You are loved.

You are worthy, chosen, and loved. You are loved with such depths that God’s only son died for you. He suffered and wept, and died in place of your sins; all for love. His love for you is higher than any mountain, and stretches farther than the east is to the west. The love He has for you has no bounds. And He wants that love to fill you up so full that it bubbles and brims over, splashing everyone you meet.

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. -Romans 5:8
By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. -1 John 3:16

You are powerful.

In your weakness, He is strong. God has given you His power and His love. Everyday you hold the power to make your own choices. God is not a dictator. You get to choose kindness. You get to choose joy. You get to choose love. You get to choose how you will impact your friends and family with your words and attitude. You get to choose how you will impact the world by your prayers and lifestyle.

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. -1 John 4:4
For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. -2 Timothy 1:7

You have purpose.

Every living, breathing thing has purpose - and you’re included. You have a purpose to live with love; to first love God, and then to love others. Purpose has the power to infiltrate every area of your life. Your words have purpose, your thoughts have purpose, your time has purpose, your spending has purpose, your talents have purpose. It’s when we truly surrender every area of our lives to the Lord, that we can find ourselves fully walking in His power and purposes each day.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:31
Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, ... -Philippians 2:2-8

I have some more good news! This isn’t a solo journey. We are doing this together. There is strength in unity, and I have no doubt we are about to become a mighty force for our Creator’s glory!
